Tradition

Despite the source of where this came from. I'm gonna use it anyway......and for the opposite reasons.........because:

"We should select and possess what is useful out of all cultures." Clement of Alexandria (195 A.D.)

Some think that the Orthodox position is "Scripture & Tradition" or "scripture + Tradition". But the truth is, we view Scripture as indwelling Tradition itself.......therefore it is an aspect of Tradition. It is the Primary aspect, but not the "ONLY" aspect......for there are other aspects as well.

Scripture came through tradition - it was the tradition of the Church that accepted the gospels and preserved them beyond all the other spurious texts in existence.

I've heard some Protestants argue that the New Testament was given to the Church by the Apostles - of course, this is like the Mormon belief that the Book of Mormon was dug out of the ground. The apostles wrote what was later COLLECTED into the New Testament, but as I said, it was the tradition of the Church that they wrote it and that their words should be preserved.

You shot your stupid selves in the foot when you chose the Pauline Epistles! Now you have to deal with the consequences. (And unfortunately, so do I. grr!)
