The Incarnation & Salvation
Over at Orrologion 's blog he posted something about Salvation, in regards to the translation of two syriac words.

Perhaps one of the most succinct of all ways of describing
how salvation comes about is to be found encapsulated in just two words in
Syriac (rather more in translation!): "He put us on, and we put Him on (labshan
wa-lbeshnayhy)," where the first element refers to the Incarnation and the
second to baptism.
The use of the first plural suffix us, our, occurs in
a number of other phrases, too, and serves to emphasize that the Incarnation is
not just an event of the past but that it involves us in the present. Thus, the
Divine Word puts on, not just the body, but also our body, our humanity, the
body of our humanity, our likeness, our nature, our image, our form, our
race.

Creation and the Patriarchal Histories

Fr. Pat Reardon is interviewed in the podcast "Ancient Faith presents". The topic is about his new book called "Creation and the Patriarchal Histories".
As takin from the summary :
"The Book of Genesis is foundational reading for the Christian, concerned as it is with the origins of our race and the beginnings of salvation history. Its opening pages provide the theological suppositions of the entire biblical story: Creation, especially that of man in God’s image, the structure of time, man’s relationship to God, the entrance of sin into the world, and God’s selection of a specific line of revelation that will give structure to history. Early Christian writers such as St. Paul saw no dichotomy between the writings of the Law, of which Genesis is the beginning, and the Gospel. Rather, the Gospel is the key to understanding the Law. In Creation and the Patriarchal Histories, Fr. Reardon shows clearly how the proper understanding of Creation and the Fall informs all of Christian doctrine, and how the narratives of the patriarchs from Noah to Joseph pave the way for the salvation history that continues in Exodus."

Sidenote: The ussage of the word "Law" is in regards to the first five books of Moses. Thus, he is trying to say that the Gospel is the key to understanding the first five books of Moses.
As seen from one reviewer:
""The Greek and Latin Fathers of the Church found the revelation of creation, the fall, and the covenantal promises in Genesis immensely enlightening. Evil and sin were not due to human nature but to a prideful flight from the offer of friendship with the Transcendent God who created the universe and, even after the fall promises a redemptive Messiah. Patrick Henry Reardon's commentary conveys central aspects of this enlightenment, showing that is as relevant today as it has ever been down the millennia."
-- Rev. Dr. Matthew L Lamb, Chairman of the Department of Theology at Ave Maria University, Florida""

The Iconographic Tradition Of The Holy Trinity
In the podcast Speaking the truth in Love Ft. Thomas Hopko explains the two ways the Holy Trinity are depicted in icons.
He also talks about what happened latter in time in how it was westernized, and what the Orthodox did in responce. It's a bit complex, historically, the Father and Holy Spirit can not be depicted in icons because they never became "incarnate". So only the "Son" is dipicted, but according to this podcast. It seems a bit more complex than that.

David Bercot & Apostolic Succession
Lord willing I will write a refutation to a couple C.D.'s that Bercot did on the issue of "apostolic succession". I just told a couple members of an Earlychurch yahoo group that I plan on doing it a few years from now.
Apostolic Succession was one of the reasons why I stopped following Bercot back in 2003. He changed his mind on the issue, and eventually he reverted back to a form of Anabaptism. His fellowship in Tyler Texas fell apart and now he lives in the middle of Pennsylvania.
But this is an issue I really would like to discuss a few years from now. I have other things on my plate that must get done first.

looking for resources
I plan on adding two more people to my "Roman Catholic and Protestant defenders of free will, incompatibilism & cooperating grace" link section.
They are:
1.) The Roman catholic order of "Cistercians". They were formed around the year 1098 A.D. I already have Bernard of Clairvaux on the list. But I'm wondering if they had any more theologians of the same stripe. Some months ago, a modern cisterian monk told me that my views about the fall of man, grace, faith, and free will were very similar to the view of his order. I asked him to send me some resources about the issue.
2.) The Anabaptist (radical protestant reformers) theologian Balthasar Hubmaier who lived from 1480 A.D. to 1528 A.D. It is said that he championed "the libertarian freedom of the will".
So if anyone knows anything about the Cistercian order or of the Anabaptist theologian Balthasar Hubmaier in regards to the issue of free will, predestination, and grace. Please feel free to inform me.
